How Do You Feel About Divorce - 908 Words
How do you feel about divorce? In our culture today there are a lot of people that have gone through divorce or been affected by it. It has actually become the norm. If you donââ¬â¢t like your marriage just get out of it, seems to be the world tells us. After all, marriage is supposed to be wonderful and never have any problems right? I think itââ¬â¢s funny how some of us want our lives to look like the ones in the movies, but when life doesnââ¬â¢t go the way we had planned, we try to hit the eject button in hopes to put in another movie. I believe some people search Godââ¬â¢s Word just to find the wording that would allow them to do what they want, but Christians should be more concerned about doing what is right and pleasing to the Lord. The main question at hand is if the world says we can get divorced for any reason, what does God say? In our culture people can get married for any reason and get divorced for any reason. We will write a custom essay on Importance Of Honesty specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now It is hard to really pinpoint one thing in my life that has helped me developmy honesty. One key factor would have to be my parents. My parents have taughtme to be honest ever since I was a very small child. My mom and dad have workedhard their whole lives to get to where they are today. They both have goodhonest jobs and they have never gone out looking for some one else to give themsomething. My father is a farmer and my mother works for the Alabama extensionsystem. I am glad that they have taught me the values of working hard andhonesty. They have always required me to get a job in the summer even though Iprobably could have gotten by without one. They also made me do chores aroundthe house and encouraged me to help out in the community. Another thing I mustgive credit to is my Christian upbringing. I have gone to church my entire lifeand was taught there the values of being honest. One more factor that has causedme to be honest is the mistakes that I have made by not telling the truth. I ama firm believer that the best way to learn is from your mistakes. When a personis not honest they can get themselves in a great deal of trouble. After you getin trouble once for dishonesty you should learn your lesson. Once I got caughtcheating on a math test and got a zero, which helped to teach me that I shouldnot cheat. Although I consider myself to be an honest person I am not saying that I amperfect or that I have never told a lie. Everyone lies a little bit, its justhuman nature. There have been times when I have told little lies to my parent orto my teachers but I knew in the long run that it is not the best way to dothings. As I mentioned earlier there have even been times that I have lookedover a friends shoulder during a test. I can see that this will be even moreof a temptation in college because of large class sizes. I have never reallyfelt good about cheating and always wished that I would have just took a fewmore minuets to study instead of having to cheat to make a good grade. Onereason that I hate lying so much is that when you lie it always seems to lead toanother lie. For example if you cheat on a test (which is a form of lying)someone might ask you if you studied a lot and your answer will probably be yeswhich would be another lie. .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b , .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b .postImageUrl , .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b , .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b:hover , .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b:visited , .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b:active { border:0!important; } .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b:active , .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u778d453f5cf88d89c06bda8507d4825b:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Hockett's Design EssayI have been in bad situations in my life were it seems that a little whitelie would help me get through it. In these situations I have often decided to goahead and tell the truth because I knew that it was the right thing to do. Manytimes the situation came out better than I expected because I came out and toldthe truth. Sometimes being honest seems to have its downsides. One thing that is bad forme is that sometimes I forget that not everyone is always telling the truth. Itend to be very gullible because sometimes I do not realize that everyone is nothonest. One way that this is true is when you are telling your friends a story. Stories always seem to be a little better if you stretch the truth out just abit. I have some friends that always seam to make things sound ten times betterthat they really are. These people will describe something and make it soundgreat, and then when you finally find out what they are talking about, you aredisappointed, because it is not what you expected. Another downside that honestyhas is that you can sometimes make people mad. Everyone has heard the old sayingthe truth hurts. This is very true. When you tell the truth, not everyoneis always pleased. A reader might wonder why honesty is an important trait for a collage studentto have. I believe that if I do not go through college honestly that I will havewasted my time. Sure, there are ways to make your grades by getting other peopleto do projects or by cheating on test, but if you do not do it yourself you arenot learning anything. I have even heard of people paying other people to takecourses for them. Sure, you may be able to get a good job after you graduate ifyou do this, but you will not be as capable as other people and they will bemuch better at their job than you. This may lead to you never getting raises oreven being fired. In my opinion, honesty is much more that just telling the truth of notcheating. To me, honesty is a way of living your life. Honesty is a importanttrait because it can help you build other key traits in your life. By workinghonestly, you can help build your self-esteem and confidence in you self. Ibelieve that these two traits are essential to get ahead in todays world. Ifyou do not have faith in yourself that you can do something, you probably neverwill get it done. I hope that my years in college will help me to be an even more honestperson, and I hope that I will obtain more good character traits that will helpme in the rest of my life. Although it can be very tempting, there is not reallyany good reason not to be honest. With honesty I will always feel better aboutmy self in the end. Whether it is just getting out of a few licks in theprincipals office or making an important life decision I try to remember thatby being honest I will nearly always come out on top. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
